Scoil Chiaráin Naofa

Scoil Chiaráin Naofa was established in 1955 on a site opposite the previous school site. The area commands a long tradition of education in the area with historical Hedge School sites geographically dotted on local survey maps. Scoil Chiaráin Naofa was a rural two teacher school. It was traditionally an area of small farming holdings augumented in recent years by some non-farming families who have come to live here.
Scoil Chiaráin is one of three national schools in the parish of Kinvarra. Scoil Chiaráin serves the area of Dubhras which in itself is a geographically centred area. The area stretches from Geata Bán on the main Ballyvaughan road passing through the townlands of Muinescribe (Mountscribe), Nogra, Tracht, Pairc Mór, Tawnagh, Crushoa, Gaoithe, Baile Nua Loinsigh and the island of Aughinish. However the school accepts children from outside this area if it’s parent(s)/guardian(s) wish that they attend.
